The Jewish Community of Offenbach is one of our long-standing clients with whom we work on an almost family basis. From the beginning, in order to open up to the public the very first time, we have not only accompanied their communication. We also designed their first website decades ago.
Based on this initial situation and due to the changes of our time and technology, a new responsive design concept had to be developed in order to react to the many devices on the market.
In a detailed briefing with Henryk Fridman, who is responsible for the technology sector in the community through volunteer work for many years and is a member of the board in general, we have created »DAVID« – an exclusively, two layered type system. It can not only used online but for printed matters too.
The type-concept is deeply rooted in Jewish tradition and values: Old sketches by the type designer and Jew Berthold Wolpe, who had to flee from Offenbach from the Nazis, shaped the design of the letters. Finally, the appearance of the Menorah - the seven-armed candlestick - was used to develop a uniform grid.
An extraordinary graphic design for the website rounded off the project and has potentially lasting effects on the community for future events. The digital advertising pillar that we created to save printing costs is an innovative solution to connect and transform our real world for digital purposes.
