Abplanalp Lab
Visual identity and website for a laboratory at the Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration in Frankfurt

Project description:
Design for a Heartbeat
The emerging field of cardioimmunology explores how chronic inflammation affects cardiovascular health and identifies new therapeutic pathways. The Aplanalb Lab at Goethe University Frankfurt investigates these connections and seeks to engage scientists, students, and followers worldwide.
Permanent Temporary developed a corporate design that stands out for its clarity and recognizability. Color palette, typography, and a unified design system connect the lab’s touchpoints.
The new wordmark is concise, minimal, and contemporary. It conveys clarity, scientific rigor, and forward-thinking relevance.
A pared-down, clear typographic approach defines the visual identity inside and out: maximally legible and consistent across media. It works seamlessly across platforms, structures content, and builds trust.
A custom-designed color palette combines scientific credibility with striking modernity, using pure tones. The colors are accessible, high-contrast, and optimized for both digital and print media.

From functional to emotional: The website as successful tech branding
The website is fully responsive: it adapts smoothly to any device, delivering a coherent, intuitive user experience that makes scientific content easily accessible. Clear lines, generous white space, strong contrasts. The design guides without distractin – for optimal readability, easy navigation, and maximum functionality.
A visual highlight: an interactive 3D model of a human heart that responds to mouse and touch movements, bringing science to life.
Design principles: clear lines, generous white space, strong contrasts, optimal readability, simple navigation, accessibility, and a semantically clean structure.
