City of Mühlheim am Main
A consistent brand design that makes a vital community visible

Project description:
At Home on the Main
Mühlheim am Main is a town known for its high quality of life. Shaped by its natural setting along the river, an active civic spirit, and short distances to green spaces, it offers both tranquility and vitality. The city is lively and engaged: Sports hold a strong social value, as do volunteer work, community clubs, and public life.
The task: Develop a visual language that reflects the city’s identity. The goal was to create a corporate design that not only works, but speaks – conveying an authentic image of the city: approachable, active, and clear. The new identity was designed to foster a strong sense of belonging internally, while being easily recognizable externally. The city’s energy – in every sense of the word – was to be reflected in its visual and communicative presence.
The Beautiful Miller's Daughter
At the heart of the new identity is the logo mark. Its dynamic curve echoes the movement of the river and translates the city's momentum into a visual language: Mühlheim, a place of beauty and flow. The design conveys both clarity and energy – like an active impulse that opens up and connects.
Alongside the logo, a systematic wordmark structure was developed, allowing for flexible use across various departments and contexts while strengthening internal cohesion. The typographic concept focuses on readability and character, combining a sense of continuity with a reference to the city's history. The color concept adds balanced highlights: a soft blue and a gentle grey emphasize the city’s vibrancy.
In addition to the logo and stationery (letterhead, business cards) and forms, key communication tools such as the city newspaper and elements of the vehicle fleet were redesigned. The result is a consistent identity with strong recognition: Mühlheim as an active, livable city at the heart of the Rhine-Main region.
